Early in the morning (between 4:00 AM – 5:00 AM), our guide will pick you up from your camp or lodge and transfer you to the launch site. You’ll arrive around 6:00 AM, where you can enjoy a warm cup of Tanzanian coffee with homemade cookies, access a clean restroom, and use our free Wi-Fi. During this time, the pilot will brief you on safety procedures, the launch and landing process, and what to expect during the flight.
At approximately 6:30 AM (subject to weather conditions), you’ll board the balloon, which is laid on its side. As it inflates and stands upright, the anticipation builds for a magical takeoff.
As you gently lift off the ground, you’ll witness the breathtaking African sunrise (weather permitting) and an uninterrupted bird’s-eye view of the endless Serengeti plains. The pilot will guide the balloon over the vast landscape, spotting wildlife and occasionally lowering the balloon for a closer view. For a panoramic spectacle, the balloon may also ascend for better speed and direction, offering stunning scenery from above.
The flight typically lasts one hour (+/- 15 minutes), and you can even enjoy hot coffee while floating above the wilderness.
The landing experience depends on wind and terrain, sometimes smooth, other times with a few gentle bumps or a basket tip-over—adding to the adventure! Once on the ground, you’ll take part in a traditional balloon celebration and learn about the origins of this cherished tradition.

- After the flight, you’ll be driven to a carefully selected bush breakfast location, where our team will warmly welcome you to a scrumptious plated breakfast in the heart of the Serengeti. Please let us know in advance of any dietary requirements so we can cater to your needs. To commemorate your experience, you’ll receive a personalized flight certificate before being transferred back to the Visitors Centre or the nearest airstrip, where you’ll meet your safari guide and continue your journey.
